Songs we sing at Gabalfa
We sing a real mixture of songs as a Church, from acapella psalms, hymns and modern praise and worship, we also sing some songs we have written ourselves (scroll down for more on them). We want to sing singable and stirring songs that will warm our hearts to who Jesus is and what He has done.

The Mercy Seat: Ascension EP
2024
This EP was inspired by the reality that, in the death of Jesus, the dividing curtain between us and the Father in Heaven has been torn from top to bottom! We can now boldly approach God's throne of grace in our time of need and so we wanted these songs to inspire our Church to pray. These are songs we sing regularly at our prayer meetings.
"Approach My Soul the Mercy Seat" has become one of our Church's favourite songs. We're thankful for the amazing hymn text from John Newton and it's great fun singing the separate male and female parts that are featured in the chorus on a Sunday.
A Better Story EP
2022
Our first live and acoustic EP which came out in summer 2022 features many songs we sing regularly in Church. In particular the final hymn, "Because of Jesus I Can Rest" sums up the message of this EP.
It's been said that "the story we live in is the story we live out". We were inspired by that idea - that there is a story that we tell ourselves (in our mind) and then there's a better story that the Lord wants to tell us (ie the good news of Jesus) - oh that the latter would become the former! Hopefully these songs help to that end.

Christ Has Won - EP
2021
Our second batch of songs was released on Good Friday back in 2021. The opening song "The Wilderness" is an original and still a favourite among our Church family. It's a song where we place ourselves among the Church in the wilderness (like in Exodus and Numbers) where we are weak and often wandering away, but Jesus is strong and gives us much help in Church and good hope beyond the river Jordan!
Otherwise this contains old hymns we have renovated or reimagined with a particular focus on the death and resurrection of our victorious Saviour Jesus!
Born to us - Advent EP
2020
This is the first EP we made as a church. It was ‘forged in the fires’ of the COVID pandemic as we were navigating strict government guidelines. Hence why the first track is a rap song - we were not allowed to sing but we could speak with our masks on and so we spoke rhythmic words filled with truth.
The EP has 3 songs which were a great help as we reflected on the birth of Jesus long foretold, hope filling and eternally life giving!
